The Last Email
It’s been almost a year since my last note to you, and I expect this’ll be my final one under the d20Digest label.
When I first started writing d20 Digest as “Dungeon Master Daily” back in 2018, there wasn’t really someone doing what I wanted to do: Be a D&D link roundup with a quick tip included.
Nowadays, you’ve got plenty of options who do both far better than I!
If you want to learn how to be a great GM, you even have full-length books out there now (I highly recommend Justin Alexander’s So You Want to Be a Game Master).
And if you want some link roundups, Ben Milton (aka Questing Beast) has you covered with The Glatisant. Start there, dive down the rabbit hole armed with a trusty RSS feed reader, and you’ll quickly have more to read than you know what to do with.
I still play D&D, don’t worry! I’ve actually run probably more gaming sessions in the last two years than I have in all my time DMing before that put together.
And I still have opinions on running games. They’ve shifted and changed over the years, but they’re not quite easily digestible quick tip chunks anymore, and I simply don’t have enough of them to justify having a whole newsletter just for that.
I will be continuing to write. It’ll just be about more topics than ttrpgs, all in one spot simply under my name, and (usually) in longer form than I did here.
You can read the whys and wherefores in this post.
And, just for you, I decided to have my first “real” post be about something a ttrpg topic that’s been on my mind quite a bit lately:
I’m not going to add any of your emails to that list—if you’re interested in continuing to hear from me across a variety of topics, I’d appreciate you subscribing there, of course.
But for now, I’ll close this writing chapter of my life with my deep appreciation for you.
It’s been 6 years and over 74,000 words.
Thank you.
Now get out there and tell a story!
Peace,
Maximilian
